Isidore Vineyard is a wine that does not ordinarily get made. These grapes were relegated to bulk wine for decades because they are from a parcel too small that defies the modern model of: necessary scale, the practicality of harvest, proximity to transport (paved roads), and valid D.O. paperwork.

In a Nutshell

-ancestral farming by hand and horse, with traditional methods of the Secano Interior

-Semillon fruit from the Isidore parcel

-Grower partner Gonzalez family

-San Isidore is on the road between Cauquenes and Sauzal on the Coastal Range of mountains (much older and slower to cool than the Andes) Soils are granitic and sub-soils have cracked granite that allow roots to get deep in to cracks.

-Harvested manually with our GWCo crew painstakingly separating Sauvignon B. in the field

-naturally fermented with native yeasts on skins for 11 months

-fermented and aged in amphora (tinaja) over a single winter

This wine was grown by a small farmer in the Maule. It was farmed by hand and horse with traditional methods of dry-farming 70+ year old vines with vines.

It was fermented naturally in amphora. Seeds were removed when they floated to the surface and skins remained in the juice for almost a whole year.

This wine is a tribute to the resilience of the Semillon Variety in the Maule. It was the first Fieldcraft Wine that we made from a specific parcel so we made it Lot # F1
